Smartspec, a new online specification-writing system for Architects and Designers launches this week in Wellington following a successful showcase to 200 Auckland-based Architects and building product manufacturers in Auckland.

Developed by the team behind the acclaimed Productspec system, Smartspec is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) tool, which promises to revolutionise the arduous process of manually editing a specification document.

Jon Thompson, Productspec CEO states, “Smartspec is giant technological leap forward - it’s a database-driven smart solution that saves the spec-writer time and money via automated spec-writing”.

Thompson goes on to say, “the key to Smartspec is the pre-determined relationship between the specification clauses.  When an Architect uses Smartspec to specify the components of a building system, their selections inform the next available choice, ensuring that incompatible options are not displayed.  For the Architect this is much faster to write a project specification and it greatly reduces the chances of specifying incorrectly.”

Over 200 Architects and Designers have joined Smartspec in the first week with Thompson stating that testimonials have been flooding in extolling the time-saving virtues of Smartspec compared with traditional specification-writing processes.
